What subjects do special education teachers teach?


lot depends on want teach in special ed, because varies if teaching profoundly, intellectually disabled students, students learning disabilities or students emotional disturbance. also, depends on state in , how handle no child left behind legislation.

speaking, in elementary school,self contained classes students moderate learning disabilities or students emotional handicaps, teach of subjects. held accountable progress applies nclb. required take statewide tests. can frustrating in extreme because many of students have no chance of passing these tests. sorry, that's how is.

in middle school , high school, specialize , teach either 1 3 subjects. middle school awful time ld , ebd kids, because many of them still far behind pass tests , classes bigger. kids have better understanding of hopelessness of situation , hormones entering blood streams, see more acting out behaviors. feel stigmatized being in class, come known "retard," class.

high school, kids have more self-control , may involved in vocational education @ point. ones can't make have dropped out @ 16. i'm sorry, is. nclb 1 of worst things ever happen special ed kids. become discouraged , depressed. also, depending on how school district uses special ed funds, of money brought in kids used regular education kids score higher. means bigger classes special ed kids , no assistants. lose, lose situation.

students intellectual disabilities mild moderate or profound, teach alternate assessment access points - language arts, mathematics, , science @ 3 levels of complexity; participatory, supported, , independent. in addition, depending on level of involvement , grade level, teach toileting, feeding , life skills activities such reading community signs, cooking safety, cleaning , home skills such bed making or dish washing , safety in home.

higher grade level teach, if decide id area, more fun be. kids high school, may taking them out on job coaching, accessing mass transit etc. alternate assessment tests no big deal them, because don't it.

do teach grades , subjects or specific ones? also, have large classes or teach students on more individual basis? teaching special education rewarding job?
