Evolutionally wondering, why do house cats and lions (big cats) look so similar?


similarities between house cat , lion come common ancestor. closest living relative of cats asiatic linsang, quite cat-like. lion, tiger, leopard , jaguar classified roaring cats. more closely related each other other cats. fifth member of roaring cats snow leopard, though snow leopard not roar. these cats big because have evolved large size medium sized cat. closest living relative of roaring cats clouded leopard.

large size has evolved indepedently among cats quite few times. besides roaring cats, large size has evolved in cheetah , in cougar. both cougar , cheetah more closely related small cats, such jaguarundi , house cat, roaring cats. cougar , cheetah, despite large size, not roar. large cat extinct saber-toothed cat, smilodon.

they same except house cats tiny , 'big cats, lions, tigers, leopards, jaguar etc huge!) why.......
