What is the most effective way to obtain a career in graphic design WITH OUT a degree?


experience key. crappy job @ design agency , start. find experience more important degree might have. next learn, cos not going college doesnt mean cant know as do. key learning date possible current software. great place start lynda.com theve got loads of online course photoshop word. have print off able certificates can put in cv. independent designs using learn. im not sure area of graphic design going for, going magazine , media design- make little magazine/ leaflet. can literally nothing, long can show off design skills.

when go interviews know lingo. lot of design (at least media design) web centric nowadays. youll need know more complicated things myspace , twitter. how e-commerce works , html, these sure impresse potential employers.

run design , media agency in uk , looking designers @ end of last year. in past have had 15-20 people apply position, time, due recession , huge surge in designers had on 200 applications. means tough job into, without degree. interviewed loads of people , found 1 job, have degree. 1 employed , dont!

maybe think of starting own firm, then, me, dont have worry qualifications!

i'm willing work butt off , learn independently unsure of how make industry?
