What are the upsides or downsides of jail breaking an iPod touch?


advantage of jailbreaking pretty breaking limits of apple. there lots , lots of tweaks can change how ipod works.

downside if install wrong tweak isn't supported device or firmware, you'll fall "safe mode" still allows use device, not if jailbroken. @ point, need uninstall tweak working again, no big problem, few years ago you'd have restore device.

other downside security, there tweaks can contain malware, repos aren't trusted. repos such bigboss screen tweaks before available cydia.

downside can slow down device if install many tweaks, or if device few generations behind.

there 2 types of jailbreaks, tethered , untethered. jailbroken devices typically start tethered jailbreak, or semi-tethered. requires use computer turn on device, or enable jailbreak status, can suck because there small chance device power off.

untethered jailbreaking doesn't need computer turn device on, , device ready go anywhere.

if goes wrong, can restore idevice how using computer, restoring pretty un-jailbreak it, leaving nothing behind.

i wondering things or bad things jailbreaking. i've watched bunch of videos on it, , looks cool! , if goes bad isn't there ways un-jail break ipod? thanks!
