Painting a Fender Jaguar/Strat?


hello there,

refinishing guitar body lot of work. need strip old finish , 220 grit paper. need 400 grit wet sand out marks stripping. need sealer coat, color , clear. these need compatible. can use either lacquer or urethane. think lacquer gives better finish, harder apply. shoot on thin , runs easily. urethane easier use , production guitars have urethane finish. can these @ shop sells car paints. need 400 grit wet sand between each coat of color , of clear. need 600 grit @ least 1200 grit (2000 better). after last clear coat, wet sand working progressively finer grit paper. let finish cure (a couple days) , ready start buffing process. best results need air compressor , paint spray gun. can use rattle cans, results in amateurish looking finish. hope guitar not one. paint job trashes value. guitar, want have professionally refinished. if have vintage guitar, refinish job destroys value.
