American summer camps - can female staff ever be camp counselors for boys?


i'm thinking applying american summer camp year work. have no experience of system (i'm british) i'm bit clueless. because i'm girl, have work younger girls?

because dealbreaker. i'm bit of tomboy! have no sisters , no female cousins, spent childhood surrounded boys , have more/as many male friends female. can't handle girls sometimes, squealing @ spiders , being mean , having 'best friends' , leaving others out...

know if i'd able work boys @ summer camp? or not done? cheers helpful answers!
