Is it possible to make a profit through buying and selling stocks with a small amount of initial capital?


i've looked opening brokerage account cheapest charged approximately £10 per transaction. in mind, don't see how it's possible make financial gains on stock market small amount of initial capital.

i've read possible buy stock directly companies using dividend reinvestment plans (drip). if case, why bother go through broker? difficult or time consuming sell drip stock?
