What is the difference between speaker wires?


understand difference in gauge of wires. 12 gauge vs 18 gauge. 12 gauge thicker , therefore offer less resistance, better sound, etc. i'm having difficulty understanding difference between 14 gauge vs 14/2 gauge. think "/2" implied 2 wires... correct? aren't speaker wire comprised of 2 wires, , therefore 14 gauge wires technically 14/2 wires?

bought same @ 14/2 or 14 gauge. if not, should purchase 14/2 instead?
