pushy bus passenger

peter happy run hongjun again. peter’s second week in china , still trying make friends, made him feel when hongjun remembered meeting him in library , remembered peter’s name. time, ran each other @ bus stop. hongjun asked peter going , peter replied heading downtown buy supplies @ store. hongjun on way meet friend , although could’ve taken many buses, told peter wait him , take same bus.

2 waited @ stop quite time (as other buses going hongjun’s stop came , went) , made small talk—they talked weather , how peter getting along in classes , such. when bus came, hongjun first got on , swiped card twice. told peter not pay, had done it. peter seemed bit confused , tried give 1 yuan note hongjun. hongjun refused, peter tried again. hongjun grabbed peter’s hand , held tightly saying didn’t need pay him.

peter felt bit weird , didn’t hongjun’s aggressiveness, shocked hongjun did next. there 1 seat open on bus , hongjun offered peter. peter replied didn’t want sit, stand. hongjun again told peter sit down, peter shook head , said didn’t feel tired. hongjun put hand on peter’s shoulder , began push him seat while saying should sit.

peter, not wanting make scene on bus, gave in hongjun , sat, didn’t want to. seemed scared hongjun forced him sit.

finally, came stop hongjun off. said bye peter , peter replied, hongjun gone, peter stood , took deep breath, glad “friend” had left.
