Should I audition for the X Factor USA?


i'm 14 year old girl, , whole life singing has been passion. take voice lessons, belong school's glee club, , jump @ opportunities have perform. have versatile voice, able sing both high , quite low, , have sung genres of music, such opera, musical theater, country, , jazz.
confident singing voice , many people have told me consider auditioning x factor. both sing , write songs (and play guitar), , have been considering auditioning x factor year or next.
prepared work hard, , not afraid of performing in front of audience or receiving criticism on singing. however, parents seem against me auditioning type of singing show, , i'm not quite sure how tell them i've been considering or how convince them allow me. afraid won't able take harsh criticism judges.
worth effort, or should let go?
