Why are there blackbirds with red wings and others with yellow or white wings instead?


grew in north dakota , remember seeing different kinds of blackbirds in slough! had red spot on wings , had white spot or yellow spot instead! of them half yellow , half white or half red. @ time thought maybe different species of red wing blackbirds cross breeding each other! or same species of red winged blackbirds have different colors?
