Do defense attorneys usually know if their defendant really committed the crime or not?


depends on lawyer , questions asked.

remember 1 woman bizarrely specialized in defending rapists said never asked if did it. worked on discrediting poor victims , how evidence gathered. didn't care if guilty or not.

lot of attorneys think job client off, real job protect rights of accused, different thing. attorney ask happened, client doing, etc. can prepare defenses.

of course, ethically, can't tell truth.

like defendant tell lawyer happened?
