How did people get tickets for the first ever olympics?

first ever olympics, mean ancient olympics starting around 776 bc or modern olympics, revived in 1896? if former, check in classics department.

if latter, don't think big deal olympic stadium in athens. olympic revival in works 15 years, still, getting word out event no 1 had heard of must have been difficult. no demand, there must have been amply supply of seats in stadium built greek king. organized, given circumstances

second olympics fraught chaos. then, olympics tried publicity being athletic portion of world's fair, big global event, held in paris in 1900. problem was, organization of olympics bad participants didn't know had competed in olympics until return home paris. athletic events dragged on 5 1/2 months. i'm pretty sure no buildings went olympics, should give sense of public awareness and, point, demand tickets.

came st. louis in 1904. olympics supposed in chicago along world's fair, local officials wouldn't allow it, olympics hastily moved st. louis. think read used facilities @ washington university, though events held in nearby parks. if fortunate enough wander park @ right time, got see gold medal olympic races.

1906 intercalated games in athens returned semblence of order. after that, orgianization of olympic games better. 1908 london , 1912 stockholm games introduced rules common olympics since. 1 of them, can't remember which, first since 1896 build arena olympics. i'm guessing pay it, must have sold tickets.

y'know, in 1920's, 3 biggest sports in baseball, boxing, , horse racing. huge throngs appeared championships in events. also, think remember ticket scandal involving philadelphia bell of fledgling world football league (wfl). in first couple of weeks, attendance @ stadiums poor, when bell played first home game in 2nd or 3rd week, had huge turnout. while other teams played in near isolation, philly continued pack games. investigation revealed tens of thousands of bell tickets being given away, surely gin enthusiasm. bet couldn't happen now.
