Adult Swimming Armbands - HELP?


i'm 18 years old, i'm using pair of bema adult sized armbands, can swim confidently them, starting swimming module sport next month, can do? people laugh @ me if wear armbands cant swim without them, tried swimming lessons before , instructor said had become way reliant on armbands , tried take air out of them gradually stop using them i'm not confident if don't have them on , panic , each time instructor took air out put more in, they're inflated it's starting constrict blood flow in arms?!?

can do? please give me honest advice, no matter how harsh may think :/
