"related" means have sort of common ancestor; 4th great grandfather , 7th great grandfather brothers in 1702, 5th cousins twice removed. "descended" means father, grandfather, great grandfather, etc.

"related" tricky word. i've read people in world european roots 14th cousins or closer. have doubts, if go out far enough have millions of cousins - 12th, 13th or 14th.
