How to tune a five-string bass?


yeah got 5 string ibanez bass, , can't figure out how on earth tune it!!! know it's supposed b e d g, can't thickest string tuned b....the last time tried string broke, , if try turning lower string gets low before hits b :( , can't afford keep buying strings every time try tune darn thing; dad had me last set! please me! , don't post answers if you're being smart alec or dumb that....helpful answers please!

(btw, don't onto me not being able afford stuff instruments; can okay?)
