Replacing a light switch?


bought infrared/motion detector light switch replace light switch in laundry room. room has no windows , nice walk in(usually hands full) , have light come on automatically. problem there 2 light switches work same light. sensor switch bought meant single switch setup in has 2 wires hook black wires in switch box. in switch box there 2 black , 1 red wire second switch. there way can use sensor switch or should buy 1 has red wire? make those? can cap red wire , use 1 light switch or code violation? house less year old.
