Can i put a forward facing child seat in the front passanger seat without deactivating the airbag?
quite legal use front-facing child seat active airbag. in fact, must have airbag enabled or insurance affected. doesn't matter how long or short distance is.
may slide front seat backwards if wish must make sure child seat mounting still effective , legal. may not possible if using seat belt type mounting - may mean can't slide seat backwards.
however, must aware if airbag deploys in accident may possibly injure child - not as injured if didn't exist.
must never use rear facing child seat in front active airbag. there absolutely no confusion or doubt that. if have rear facing child seat must disable airbag. modern cars have switch somewhere that. car's owner's manual explain use of rear-facing child seat , disabling airbag.
