Designing my own home school curriculum?


have seen people talking designing own curriculum, or using sonlight or switched on schoolhouse. how diplomas? i'm in high school , i'd design own curriculum instead of using program. found 1 thing called volume 1(at least think) , when studied in 1 subject studied in all(if studied egypt in geography, studied pharaohs in history, etc). how can diploma that? @ point i'll take suggestions. i've looked @ lot of stuff nothing except ones can't afford. thanks
