What size rat should i feed my boa?


have 6 month old red tailed boa constrictor, or bcc, , feeding him 1 pinkie rat week...but, trying eat them sideways, , heard might because of me feeding him small of meals. don't want feed him 2 @ time, because don't want him in habit of expecting 2 every meal time. 1 ft 11 in, , thin. here pics..
