Why don't more piston engine aircraft use transistorized/electronic ignition?


if did work in aircraft maintenance, you'd know how time consuming , expensive process new system certified , legal install on aircraft. newly designed airplanes use electronic ignition systems, there no huge demand retrofit older piston powered airplanes. aircraft owners, expense great little benefit gained.

magnetos antiquated heavy affairs , virtually nothing fuel economy.

why aren't aircraft manufacturers flocking in droves newer , more efficient technology?
