What does icing mean in hockey?


icing when team shoots puck side of centre ice, on other team's goal line.

there can exceptions rule. if team killing penalty, allowed ice puck.

in nhl hockey, team ices puck. referee call icing, skater team b must touch puck after crosses goal line icing. if player team outraces team b , touches first, icing cancelled. known no touch icing. other leagues use no-touch icing, not require team b touch puck. in many cases, icing can still waived off if appears team b not making enough of effort prevent icing. if puck approaching goal line, , player team b close enough puck before icing occurs, skates doesn't reach it, icing can still waved off.

i don't understand term when ref says "icing 'blank team' i've wondered meant, people have tried explain me, don't it. help!
