What is the structural formula of 1,2 dichloropent-1-ene?
molecule has 5 carbon atoms. line them in row. since 1-pentene, connect first , second carbon double bond. connect rest of carbon atoms each other single bonds. attach 1 chlorine atom first atom in chain. attach second chlorine atom second carbon atom in chain. connect 1 hydrogen first carbon atom, 2 hydrogens third carbon atom, 2 hydroens fourth carbon atom, , 3 hydrogens fifth carbon in chain. though impossible draw structure here, i'll approximation of it:
ch(cl)=c(cl)-ch2-ch2-ch3
note: in above chain, dashes represent bonds between carbon atoms. chlorine , hydrogen atoms attached carbon atom preceeds them.
i somehow got ch3=chclchclch2ch3 i'm unsure whether or not correct.
please help!
