Why don't movie theaters do this...?
think problem theater not make enough of profit make venture worthwhile. movie theaters make heck of lot of money on concession stands, , estimates put profit margin @ 85%. $30 bag of raw popcorn worth as $3,000 movie theaters.
if theater attempted sell t-shirts @ 15 20 dollars each, people decline, saying since spent maybe 10 bucks movie , other 10 bucks or more on refreshments. buy same shirt cheaper, elsewhere.
cnnmoney story looks business of movie theaters plainly reveals that, theater owner’s perspective, customers not @ movies entertained. instead, customers there eat (and buy, obviously) soda , junk food, @ marked-up prices justify money theater paid movie studios , distributors right show film. without hefty concession profits, there no movie theater business, though tickets don’t seem cheap , movie business has done better in recession.
edit: our amc theater has cocktail bar now, too. have yet see there during day...maybe because of big mark-up? maybe it's not going worthwhile, profit-wise?
why don't movie theaters sell posters/shirts/toys in lobbies? i'm sure it'd easy vendor come in, sell stuff fans, , give small percentage theater or something. time concerts/musicals... why not blockbuster hits?
