Why does my hot water tank take so long to drain?
proper way drain water heater is: turn off heating element whether gas or electric. attach garden hose faucet near bottom, , lead hose outdoors, , downhill. let tank cool, don't damage hose heat. turn off feed valves @ top of tank, both in , out. open valve @ bottom attached hose. open spring loaded "pop off" valve (temp , pressure relief valve) high on side of tank, , connected tubes lead outdoors. tank drains, air come in through pop off valve, there won't vacuum inside. allow greater flow rate, remove sediment. after it's empty, close valve @ bottom, remove hose, close pop off valve, open top valves, , after refills, turn heat on. if there's sediment buildup impede flow of water out of tank, it's time replace it. newer tank safer, cost less operate clogged one, , deliver hot water @ fast rate when want it. drain tank annually new tank doesn't sediment buildup. lot of people put scrap of old hose on outlet valve, , drain off 5 gallons every month big bucket, let bucket cool before discarding. works pretty if every month, , it's less time consuming annual maintenance.
took 1 hr drain , think there alot of sediment in tank no water pressure on hot side @ ...need know how fix please
