Does redwood have to be coated to be used outdoors (in the shade)?
2 types of wood in world don't rot, huon pine tasmania , can never remember other 1 lol, it's not redgum! though resistant is! railways use them under tracks reason, rot if choose each sleeper ( dry, free of imperfections etc) it'll outlast , kids, i've seen sleepers dug after 80+yrs , used build house, although being above ground introduces mould, moss , oxygen speed process, if climate humid, oil (preferably natural colour not take away natural beauty) if climate dry wouldn't worry
where subject water. i've heard it's resistant rot.
