creeper can come out in day spawns in dark

skeletons burn in sun , spawn @ night (or in dark places)

zombies burn in sun , spawn @ night (or in dark places)

enderman spawn @ night (or in dark places) , dont burn

spiders spawn @ night dont burn or become hostile while sun out (except if in cave)

basic monsters you'll see , i've been playing minecxraft 8 months have credability
