Is Panasonic a well-known and reliable brand?
yes.
brands , best least: panasonic, samsung, lg, sony, toshiba, phillips.
plasma >=< led > lcd (led same/upgrade lcd, should never go lcd).
- picture quality = plasmas better picture quality (dark rooms , better dark pictures/video) , viewing experience little none motion blur (plasma big tv's). (led better tv's around 32 inches or smaller/small tv's bright rooms , bright pictures/videos).
- sound quality = plasmas better, led ok too,
- appearance = plasma glass, led nice too.
- energy consumption = led's better (led's extremely economical , gamers).
- reliable = led's easier take care of , last longer, guess better. (i recommend led tv's gaming).
- price = both same price , it's decide if want plasma or led.
1080 good? yes.
- 1080 resolution better 720 resolution.
- bigger tv's better 1080 720 (if tv around 32 inches go 720, bigger want 1080 tv's on 42 inches).
- farther sit away tv's means it's better go 1080 720 (if sit more 10 feet away tv, go 1080).
- progressive scan better interlaced scan.
- example: 1080p > 1080i
- example: 720p > 720i
- example: 1080i > 720p (because more resolution better slower passed videos).
- example: 720p > 1080i (because fast pass videos better off progressive scan).
60hz good? = no.
- want @ least 120hz tv play videos.
hz refresh rate. (some tv's have choice hz can set at).
- it's hd tv-set running @ 60hz - meaning refreshes entire screen 60 times second.
- it's hd tv-set running @ 120hz - meaning refreshes entire screen 120 times second.
fps = frames per second.
- ntsc countries use 60hz = 30 fps.
- pal countries use 50hz = 24/25 fps.
(for not equal conversions there more math it, , there 3:2 or 2:3 pulldowns not explain).
ntsc countries:
- display 30 frames per second on tv 60 hz refresh rate, each frame repeated 2 times every 30th of second.
- display 30 frames per second on tv 120 hz refresh rate, each frame repeated 4 times every 30th of second.
pal countries (you don't want tv 60hz because includes more math , bad effects).
- display 25 frames per second on tv 50 hz refresh rate (pal countries), each frame repeated 2 times every 25th of second.
- display 24 frames per second on tv 72hz refresh rate, each frame repeated 3 times every 24th of second.
- display 25 frames per second on tv 100 hz refresh rate (pal countries), each frame repeated 4 times every 25th of second.
- display 24 frames per second on tv 120hz refresh rate, each frame repeated 5 times every 24th of second.
.ect
(if playing video different fps, there different math, used progressive scan math btw).
hobbit (1 out of 3): unexpecting journey: (prequel lord of rings): 1 of first movies change 24 fps 48 fps (or 30 fps 60 fps). may see more movies this.
still new 3d tv's, ill have them , not fan of 3d tv's anyways.
- can it's slow pass scenes and/or animated movies.
