Which of the following compounds has the highest melting point and why?
b horrible right, cacl has highest melting point: 772 °c. however, stuff not being compound nonsense. since when ionic solids not compounds? of course compound! coulombic forces strong , reason melting point high, aren't lost when ionic compound melts - far - longer range ionic forces still there in liquid state. in fact, there quite few ionic compounds melting points aren't high. ions can move past each in liquid state too.
