Why Do People Like Soap Operas?


mother has faithfully watched soap opera 55 years. why?! why people enjoy soap operas? don't it. fighting, backstabbing, hating, vindictiveness, crying, whining, lying, cheating, stealing , killing (and person never seems have go jail, btw!). why people enjoy watching group of actors, yes, actors, not real-life people, displaying every single bad, negative trait human being has? lacking in person need see others behave this?
