Is it unsafe to have furniture touching an electrical outlet?


apartment full of electrical outlets (too many in opinion). have futon mattress against wall, , it's touching 1 of outlets. present fire hazard? nothing plugged it, it's there. i'm wondering if it's dangerous have furniture touching it.
