Why are VTOL aircrafts not catching up?


simple answer s cost/$$$$ ask why vtol? 747 can take off corner parking lot? still people have gather, can gather runway located. amount of power needed vertical take off of size aircraft on amount needed rolling takeoff. add complex systems needed , have expense isn't of value.

vtol has limited value in actual daily use. has value military operations , commercial use not every aircraft has needs. until magical propulsion system developed makes easy, safe, , quiet vtol remain limited market item. if no other reason cost accomplish it.

vtol aircrafts can useful(they can take off helicopters , cruise aircraft) , still can find few of them developed these years. limiting factors manufacturing these or me thinks useful??
