Is it true that the boiling point of water is 100C?I find it kind of hard to believe that's way too high?
didnt why think that high.
guess:
thinking years ago. if boiling point of water 100 how heck ever dried. after rains...the ground not @ 100 yet dries.
because though evapartion , boiling identical....they different in boiling rapid process occurs through out liquid when reaches temperature given pressure. evaporation occurs @ surface , doesnt need 100 degress occur. becaue molucles kinetic energy @ surface sufficient enought on come atmospheric pressure. of course not molecules have right energy...this because there average kinetic energy (aka temperature) below boiling. if put liquid in closed container (half full) , allow evaporation occur evaporation stop. occurs @ called saturated vapor pressure...its when water vapor moleuces leaving surface equals amount returning surface.
can increase vapor pressure increasing temperature. if expose liquid air , increae temperature of liquid eventally vapor pressure equal atmospheric pressure. boiling happends.
