Why can't electric cars recharge themselves adequately while operating?
no question gets asked more on forum one. others have tried explain has physics law of conservation of energy understanding of inertia helpful.
in physics learn forces balance themselves.
inertia says object @ rest tends want stay way while body in motion wants stay way. added energy makes body accelerate speed @ forces in balance. @ particular speed energy supplied have equal resistance encountered. if air, tire, , internal mechanical inefficiency , resistance equals "x" energy supplied keep vehicle moving @ speed has equal "x" energy can transmitted vehicle during operation in trolley car or stored on vehicle before operation in petrol or electric vehicle.
there cases seem create energy on vehicle during operation - car solar panels, example. in these seemingly special cases find energy either stored on vehicle or transmitted well. solar car converting light transmitted vehicle. hydrogen car converting hydrogen stored on vehicle. hybrid using stored energy in gasoline make electricity.
regenerative braking interesting case. here run car speed. inertia of moving car represents amount of stored energy. can applying generator wind turbine, parachute or braking system generate power stored in inertia of vehicle. result vehicle slow down because taking away energy used balance resistance "x." if take away enough energy vehicle stop.
in order electric vehicle recharge batteries while moving energy must come somewhere. law of conservation of energy says cannot create or destroyed (only moved someplace else) if recharge batteries inertia of vehicle vehicle slow down , need energy batteries speed again. due inefficiency require more energy can capture regenerative braking.
, electric vehicle can never recharge batteries while moving without power source transmitting power vehicle (there wireless systems of charging vehicles) or source of power on vehicle. (gasoline engine, solar panels, or atomic batteries.)
all cars have alternator or similar device recharge batteries while car being driven. why can't electric cars recharge adequately while operating, don't need plugged power source?
