problem not violin. it's new bow. takes long, long time enough rosin build on new bow. so... here do. crush rosin pieces dusty, powdery consistency. rosin brittle. smash if hit hammer. can carved sharp knife, well. need small quantity of rosin dust.

then, pinch rosin dust bow hair, half inch, or so, @ time. pinch rather hard, , squeeze finger against thumb rosin dust , bow hair in between them. when you've done full length of bow hair, you're ready draw bow on rosin in normal way. however, rosin build-up you're squeezed onto bow, you'll able pull rosin in usual way.

oh, , sliding bridge... start string tightening bridge inclined toward tailpiece. tighten strings individually, little @ time, , gradually bridge pulled perpendicular violin , won't slip. way, thing teacher can show you. once see done, can better yourself. aware, 1 of things needs "set up" on new instrument "fitting" of bridge violin. may need little sanding here , there make "sit" right. luthiers earn money doing this, , it's better pay them break few bridges or not have "set up."
