How important is Katharevousa?
katharevousa between modern greek , ancient greek. usage official;people not speaking katharevousa. public , official documents written in katharevousa until abolished in 1976. since then, 'dimotiki' (modern greek) used everywhere, official or unofficial purposes. no, katharevousa not taught nowadays, ancient greek taught in highschool. don't have understand or write , no official document written in form, although it's rather easy understand if know elements of ancient greek (this useful if came across old official document before 80s',rather unlikely happen).
