Did someone pay for my upgrade?


after visiting dad, went airport take short transatlantic flight (which had booked me). booked in premium economy (british airways) , @ check-in desk, hostess hands me ticket (for both flights), doesn't special, take it, thank , leave. anyway, when boarding plane, i'm ushered staff front of plane , see i'm sat in first. same thing again on transatlantic flight (this time it's 1 of little seat/bed pods). no sign whatsoever staff had bumped me out of goodwill or anything.

i'm wondering, did ba/the staff randomly when got check-in desk (in case, why did pick me in particular lol?) or did dad discretely bump me first class changing original reservation?
