accommodation
possibly biggest expense accommodation. regular hotel set usd$100 night single room or usd$150 double. try business hotel compromise prices around usd$70 single room , usd$100 double. recommend toyoko inn hotel chain located on japan.

travel
if plan lot of travelling in japan worth getting japan rail pass, allows unlimited travel on jr trains, including shinkansen (excluding nozomi superexpress). pass can purchased outside of japan , save travel money in japan.

in tokyo, of main sights , hot spots can visited via jr train line (yamanote loop line) one-day jr train pass 730 yen (about usd$9).

food
prices @ regular japanese restaurants usd$8-$15 meal, food can cost little usd$5-8 meal if eat @ budget japanese restaurants yoshinoya, sukiya, , coco ichiban curry house. lunch set specials, great value , cost little usd$7-8. fast food restaurants have them cheaper @ around usd$5.

attractions
many attractions in japan free including temples, shrines , gardens. more famous attractions charge entrance fee little 500 yen usd$6.
