'Hapless' this poem , I've tried to edit many times. What'd you do with it if it was yours?
bold , proud day vowed
"i pirate!" quite drunk, , loud.
mocked. seagulls flocked overhead , laughed,
"he reckons hisself pirate, 'es got no craft!"
in midst of day went off on trip
in boat- boat, not craft, not ship.
got lost. tossed doll made of rags;
winds coming in snow sprinkled crags
west. blessed light in dim,
shape, large , dark alee, closing in.
in wake of shape spun towards cape
crests of waves led graves, no escape.
beacon shone down on bones of young men
song of siren had sucked them in
colossal rain fell percussive hell
scream seemed come sea gale
blowing north , south, , forth
through night no moon, no star-map course
anchor dropped dark shape had stopped
unload chests of gold gemstone topped
crept past hull while black flag pulled
down mast , cries of starved seagulls
sang haunts, faces gaunt, wrapped in translucent light
made of mist, made of cloud, cringed @ sight.
drinking rum, on plowed, fell crew avowed
return dead head, chanting aloud:
‘the devil’s dealt bad hand, you’re in hell, see, man,
mate, meet fate'- , again- nightmare began...
in midst of day went off on trip
in boat, boat, not craft, not ship.
got lost. had crossed lair of sea-hag.
boat sank lowered cursed black flag.
i bold , proud day vowed "i pirate!" quite drunk, , loud. mocked. seagulls flocked overhead , laughed, "he reckons hisself pirate, 'es got no craft!" in midst of day went off on trip in boat- boat, not craft,...
