When you replace a internal hard drive does it matter what type of hard drive you replace it with?

yes matters.

electrical interface in drive must match computer has, or better original drive is. can ide or sata. around 2005 when transitioned ide (pata) sata.

computer came 40gb drive rather old. might ide only.

if can sata drive, not able use large block drive, sure standard block sized drive.

don't worry speed higher speed drives or motherboards downward compatible slower speeds.

what im trying ask model of hard drive matter because im running windows xp , want replace 40gb hard drive new 1 im worrying if model , brand matter or can computer run hard drive?
