Why does tap water freeze when purified water doesnt?


curious...

perhaps possible both 3 gallon jug , case of bottled water froze @ point, , subsequently thawed, time noticed phenomenon? smaller individual bottles thaw more big volume in jug... though wouldn't expect remain frozen through describe.

can doubtless tell if 20 ounce bottles have been distorted expansion of ice.

i had case of purified bottled water sitting right next large absopure jug filled city tap water. tap water froze solid whereas smaller bottles of purified water did not. reason why?
