Is mutual fund taxable?


hi everyone,
have invested in mutual fund period of 2 years. last sip due january'13. have started investment (equity) in jan'11.
question is; taxable if en-cash gain within march'13? or anytime within jan'14 (considering 1 year limit - read in couple of websites not taxable if withdrawn after 1 year of investment)
novice investor , trying juggle within taxes , creating wealth. many helping me in advance.
