Would the USPS deny my package over a 1 or 2 ounce error?
depends. not though. usps rates items on pound rounded nearest pound. so, if off 1 or 2 ounces, chances are, still round same weight. have off half pound or more start getting wrong rates. example: scale says 2lb 4.1oz: real weight 2lb 6.5oz: still rated @ 3lb package in both cases.
when scales out of calibration, error scales linearly in proportion weight being measured. so, if scale off 1oz @ 5lbs, off 2oz @ 10lbs, 4oz @ 20lbs, etc. if same error across entire range, means didn't 0 scale before weighing, or there mechanically wrong, stuck under platform.
can use know weight of, watermelon bought store, check scales weight. however, sure know right weight; if see package has net weight listed, means weight of contents, not entire box or can, shouldn't use weight test. use know gross weight or total weight of. weigh @ post office, write weight on , take scale check how off are. might not bad off thought.
im selling on ebay, , im using online shipping label thing asks size , weight. scales little off. lets package weighs 2lbs , im ounce or 2 off deny package , make me buy new label?
