Do i have to purchase postage on eBay or can i post the item myself?

in process of selling first item via ebay , need know whether have purchase postage label via ebay (which quite expensive) or can put item in bag, write address on myself , send via post office?

item paid paypal , first item funds pending until item received buyer. mean buyer need confirm transaction once receive item?
