When i hold my one note down on my guitar it doesnt play the note it makes a ding noise?!what am i doing wrong?

problem might because have long finger nail, , pad of finger therefore not making contact wood behind fret. on slack string tend buzz against fret wire too, check guitar tuned concert pitch, i.e. a=440 hz.
pianos close enough or use tuner, pitch pipes or online guitar tuner check this. cause might string itself, because windings (the fine wire wrapped around string) can break @ point along length, causing weird noise. if gently glide finger tip along strings, can feel condition of windings. luck!

im trying play purple haze watching video , when play second note makes ding noise , tried loosening sting , still doesnt work.. doing wrong!?
