How does RAM upgrading work?

assuming using windows laptop, not linux.
if using linux contact me

right click computer (my computer) , select properties.
in general see if operating system 32 bit.
if 32 bit maximum ram 4gb.
if 64 bit 64+ gb ram can used

, scan computer , recommend upgrade size , speed of ram given.
write ram type (ddr, ddr2 example), size in gb , important speed (for example 2700, 3200). buy ram new ebay or crucial site if price , live in correct country.
fit ram crucial have guide on site

i have laptop has 4gb of ram. when upgrade (as want to), have match new ram old 1 example 4gb 1 or 8gb 1 if makes sense..
