Are parrots good pets?

people, yes. people no.

of course word parrot broad. range anywhere budgie cockatoo, diffrent, not in size , noise, in neediness , difficulty in training etc.

need evaluate lifestyle. see profile pic of small child. parrots not in household small children. birds bite @ point, (even if have bird 10 years, still bite @ point!!) , small child frighten bird , bitten, or accidently hurt bird. many parrots very loud. many parrot owners end gitting rid of birds have had years after having children find not have time both bird , child.

birds need out of cage @ least part of day, interacting , family. time consuming pet. remember live long time! live 50+ years! messy , destructive. chew on things (furniture, carpet, wires, anything) , tend throw food , feathers , bits of toys everywhere.

if interested in getting parrot, research on of quieter, smaller varieties, cockaiel or green cheek conure. go local bird store , spend time meeting different types of birds , speaking people know birds.

yes can loving, comical companions, have make sure bird fit lifestyle :-)
