How can I read ahead when sight reading in piano?


can still hear piano teacher: "read up!". point read "vertically" lowest bass note, rest top soprano. music, eye zig-zags top voice lowest note of next sequence, assembling chords starting lowest ones. becomes habit , won't think it.

reading horizontally means that: while you're still zig-zagging across page, eye can still take in patterns ahead: partial descending scale of 4 notes, arpeggiation, alberti figuration, etc.

if you're beginning, it's extremely difficult, keep practicising. sight-read can. when first started reading english, had focus on each individual letter figure out word. @ word - don't see individual letters. same come in time when sight-reading music.

is supposed 1 bar? because can read ahead 1 or 2 notes @ ahead. tips? alright?
