Why is Christmas sometimes spelled "X-Mas"?


it's centuries old abreviation. x greek letter chi, first letter in christ. xmas, xians, etc abreviations christians developed, used , popularized. many people today don't know history, use xmas because it's quicker write or takes less room.

like on christmas cards or wherever, instead of merry christmas! says merry x-mas! why? why x? why not merry c-mas?

know means same thing why people use way too?
