How long would it take to pick up golf if they learn it quick?

takes minute learn basic rules of golf if want play casual game friends.
1. hit ball
2. go find ball
3. repeat 1 & 2 until ball holed.

if want play money or in tournament, need read , understand rules of golf. basic rules can learned in hour or two, there endless possibilities , interpretations can take lifetime understand.
that's rules. make swing , hit ball different story. if have hand eye coordination, might able hit ball enough around course. please favor , don't go on course until can reliably advance ball. can save lot of trouble if start teacher.

how long take learn how play, in company of others can play mediocre - golf. on social level good.
